Availability Suite "free upgrade" on renewal of Backup Essentials Enterprise

I registered for this, as my renewal is in process, but I really struggled to determine what it is that Availability Suite does that Essentials Enterprise does NOT. More for free is great, I figure maintenance & support will bump a notch and that's OK, but what exactly is "more better"?

    Hmmm, odd then to allow for a "free" upgrade, I wonder if we'll see an alignment of licensing with Microsoft's core count come Veeam 10.0. We're not enterprise-y enough to need more than the six sockets.

    They are licensed differently in that I thought pricing was different. Sort of like if you use VMware Essentials, $500 to start, and $30 annually vs main Product which can run into thousands per host. I don't sell stuff anymore, so you might want to make sure what the renewal hit might be.

    Or perhaps this is a suite migration/name change that we have seen before.

    Get used to this as every MS update breaks more applications. Kudos to Veeam for the speed with which they've tested and rolled out these updates.

    If you haven't tried this, you need to give it a test drive. If nothing else, it may change your thinking from "Sure I take backups" to "Here's how I ensure continuity of service."

Replaced NAS drive used as backup repository - Steps needed?

Hi,

We recently had a Synology NAS fail which was acting as our backup repository over the network.

We restored the old config on the new NAS, so IP address and SMB name are the same and the same share name exists. 

When I ran last nights Veeam backup, it failed with the message - " the network path was not found, agent failed to process method"

I am currently rescanning the Backup repository to see if this helps. Are there any other steps needed after replacing the NAS?

    Veeam does use several services and agents in the config of Veeam repository so replacing the NAS (with same name and IP address) will not work. 

    You will need to remove the Veeam repository (Veeam would have some services tied to the NAS).

    Then re-create the Veeam repository.

    Thanks, I've created a new repository (a new share on the same NAS) and a new backup job and tried running again, still failing with the same error.

    I did not remove the old repository yet, as I thought a new repository and backup job might negate the need for this. If I remove the old repository and try again should it work?

Veeam is Making My Life Hard Today

Trying to evaluate Veeam for my backups. Tried doing a backup and it got 1 disk, but not the data drive. OK, so I put in a support request. Looks like it cannot do the backup due to it being an "independent disk". They tell me to install the agent. I installed the agent on my own computer, but they send me information that I can do it by creating "protection groups". I look around...that option isn't available. OK, maybe they can attach to my ENC Unisphere box? Nope, can't do that.

VERY VERY close to giving up on Veeam and trying something else. Or it could be that I'm going about this all wrong (very possible). Just a whole morning of roadblocks. I just want to backup my VMs!!
